Perilunate dislocations are classified according to the Mayfield system. Stage 1= disruption of the scapholunate and radioscaphocapitate ligaments, Stage 2 = capitate and scaphoid separate from lunate, Stage 3 = force transmits ulnarly disrupting the lunotriquetral ligament resulting in complete separation of lunate from carpus, Stage 4 = lunate dislocation.
